Join an Acetaia vinegar tasting near Modena, and spend a night in Florence, where you’ll admire Michelangelo’s David and visit sculpture-filled Signoria Square. On to Rome for two overnights and guided sightseeing that includes a visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the Colosseum and Forum. In Pompeii, a guided walking tour introduces you to the excavations of the city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This preserved town gives you an amazingly detailed look into life 2,000 years ago at the peak of the Roman Empire.
Your adventure ends with a farewell dinner and two overnights in the charming resort of Sorrento, where a jetfoil whisks you to the Isle of Capri for a funicular ride and guided sightseeing. Be sure to try a limoncello, the sweet drink made from the enormous lemons that come directly from Sorrento’s numerous lemon trees.
